Right-wing media absurdly declare Obama admin acted in "illegal," "unconstitutional" manner by "forcing" BP to create escrow account
Right-wing media have absurdly claimed that the Obama administration is "illegal[ly]" "forcing" BP to fund a $20 billion escrow account for victims of the oil spill, with some suggesting the administration's actions were "unconstitutional." However, BP agreed on its own to establish the account after negotiations with the White House.

Joe Barton's (R-TX) claim that the BP escrow account fund designed to aid Gulf residents affected by the oil spill resulted from a White House "shakedown," despite the fact that the plan was "mutually agreed to" by both the administration and BP. NY Post uses irrelevant data to falsely suggest cap-and-trade bills hurt poor
The New York Post falsely suggested that the Congressional Budget Office found that congressional climate change legislation would result in a "loss in after-tax income" for the poorest Americans. In fact, CBO found that the lowest quintile of Americans would gain income under the House bill, the only bill it has assessed. Read More

National Review Online's Robert VerBruggen falsely claimed that in a document she wrote as a Clinton administration official, Elena Kagan "apparently tied the NRA to the KKK." In fact, Kagan did no such thing. Read More

Conservative media: BP was "persecuted" at "Stalinist," "witch trial" hearing
Right-wing media have complained that BP was "persecuted" at a congressional hearing on the company's role in the Gulf oil spill and compared the hearing to a "Stalinist show trial," "Inca ritual slaughter," the Salem witch trials, the McCarthy hearings, and the Romans feeding Christians to lions. Fox News continued its attack on a judicial decision to remedy a Voting Rights Act violation in Port Chester, NY that led to the election of the first Latino member of that village's legislature.
